putting yourself first | how are you feeling today?
At the start of every session with a client I will always ask, how are you, how are you feeling today?
You would be amazed at how many of the women I work with will answer that question with feedback about other people in their life.
Maybe the kids are sleeping better, maybe they are doing well in school, maybe their boss has been in a slightly better mood, maybe their partner is taking on more of the load, maybe their parents need a little more support now…
As mothers, we are carrying a lot. To keep showing up for ourselves and the people we love. We need to be meeting our needs.
To be able to meet our needs we need to know what they are.
That starts with how you are feeling. Knowing it and more importantly, naming it.
Do you know how you are feeling right now? Can you name it?
When you name the feeling, it becomes a lot easier to know what you might need that day. For example, knowing that you are feeling a little lonely might help you to reach out and call a friend for a chat.
If you are struggling to identify it, The Feelings Wheel is a brilliant tool. You start with a basic feeling in the centre and work your way out to a more specific feeling.
Please remember to check in with yourself. Every day. Ideally lots of times each day. You deserve love, attention and to have your needs met too.
If you would like some support please do book in for a free consultation.
